Statement
Sehen ist laut.
“Seeing is loud.”
This phrase anchors my ongoing project Soundmalerei,
a practice rooted in painting yet unfolding through sound.
What happens when a painting no longer asks to be seen—
but heard?
I explore the idea that images, though still, are never silent.
They carry vibrations—rhythms, tonalities, dissonances.
A painting, even in stillness, speaks without permission.
Rather than represent a painting, I distill its definition:
form, content, and perception—without its visual frame.
The result is an auditory structure that does not describe an image,
but opens a space for listeners to construct one within themselves.
As with unearthing a relic and imagining its context,
each listener becomes both viewer and interpreter.
Soundmalerei does not offer a single answer—
instead, it remains unfinished, in motion,
existing somewhere between wall and body,
between what is seen and what is resonated.
This installation is not silent.
It is simply a painting that happens to sound.

보는 것은 시끄럽다.
이 문장에서 출발한 나의 작업 Soundmalerei는
회화의 본질이 어디에 있는지를 질문하며
그 질문을 소리로 탐색해 나간다.
회화는 이미지를 담는 매체지만,
그 이미지가 감각 속에서 생성하는 것은 언제나 다르다.
조용한 그림은 조용하지 않다.
보이는 형상은 순간마다 떠들고, 흔들린다.
나는 회화를 다시 정의하는 시도에서 출발해
이미지를 재현하는 대신,
그 울림과 진동을 청각적 언어로 옮기려 한다.
이 작업에서 이미지란
청자가 듣고, 상상하고, 재배치하는 과정 속에 열린다.
고고학자가 유물을 통해 시간의 구조를 상상하듯,
이 작업은 형태를 벗어나
기억과 소리, 그리고 개인적인 감각의 흐름 안에서 발견된다.
Soundpainting은 하나의 정답이 아닌,
각자의 내면에서 구성되는 회화를 유도한다.
결국 이 설치는
벽과 몸 사이,
그 사이에 남는 울림을 위한 구조다.
무음의 그림이
소리를 가진 시각이 되었을 뿐이다.
